Barloworld Equipment Hands Over Rare CAT D8 Centennial Edition to Andru Mining

Johannesburg, 1 December 2025 — In a milestone celebration of Caterpillar’s 100-year legacy, Barloworld Equipment has officially handed over a rare CAT D8 Centennial Edition track-type tractor to Andru Mining, South Africa’s largest owner of D8 machines.

Painted in the distinctive “Centennial Grey” — a nod to the original color of Caterpillar’s first machines — the limited-edition tractor is one of only a few produced globally. It features commemorative 100-year markings and a special interior plate, making it both a collector’s item and a state-of-the-art machine.

“This Centennial Edition is more than an iconic paint scheme, it’s a tribute to the trust and partnership we’ve built with Andru Mining over decades,” said Doug Morris, Executive Head of Sales and Supply Chain at Barloworld Equipment.

The Centennial Edition CAT D8 is equipped with cutting-edge telemetry and remote monitoring technology, offering real-time performance insights and enhanced fuel efficiency. Barloworld Equipment backs each delivery with operator training and robust support, including up to 10,000 hours of warranty and scheduled servicing — essential for high-demand mining operations.

The handover marks a significant moment as Caterpillar celebrates a century of innovation in the mining and construction industries. Looking forward, the company is investing heavily in sustainable technologies, particularly around fuel efficiency and emissions reduction, to meet the evolving needs of the sector.

The delivery of this unique machine highlights Barloworld and Caterpillar’s continued commitment to advancing mining operations across Southern Africa.
