Gauteng Gears Up for rAge Expo 2025: A Mega Weekend of Gaming, Tech & Pop Culture

Johannesburg — Gauteng is counting down to one of the most anticipated entertainment and technology weekends of the year as rAge Expo 2025 prepares to open its doors from 5–7 December at Fourways Mall Level 8. The annual gaming and digital culture showcase is returning bigger, louder, and more interactive — promising a blockbuster lineup of competitions, activations, and next-gen tech experiences.

Dubbed “the final countdown to rAge 2025,” this year’s expo blends nostalgia, innovation, esports, retail excitement, and fan culture into a single, action-packed event. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, anime fan, LEGO builder, sim-racing enthusiast, or simply looking for a family day out, the 2025 programme has something for everyone.

Retro, Sci-Fi & Hands-On Creativity Take Centre Stage

Visitors can look forward to several new and exclusive attractions. The NAG Retro LAN promises a throwback experience complete with meals, gear and VIP seating — no high-end gaming rigs needed. LEGO fans will help assemble a massive 9,023-piece Star Wars Death Star, while Disney’s Alien: Earth installation invites guests into a cinematic, dark sci-fi walkthrough experience.

Star Wars devotees can also craft their own sabers through a dedicated lightsaber-building workshop, complete with cosplay guidance and expanded parts options.

Competitions With High-Stakes Prizes

Esports and competitive gaming will dominate the weekend. Attendees can:

  • Play the global first release of Call of Duty: Mobile DMZ Mode and stand a chance to win an iPhone 17.
  • Race to win VEX Smart Glasses in the Project Motor Racing simulation challenge.
  • Enter bouldering contests, escape-room speed runs, and daily fighting games and racing tournaments for prizes ranging from LEGO sets to tech bundles.

Casual visitors can also participate in selfie competitions, tattoo giveaways worth R6,000, instant-win draws, and leaderboard challenges across multiple exhibitor stands.

Play the Latest Games Before Anyone Else

Gamers will be treated to hands-on previews of the most talked-about titles of 2025, including:

  • Battlefield 6 Free-to-Play Zone
  • Carry1st’s exclusive global debut of COD Mobile DMZ
  • Local indie gems in the Home_Coded zone
  • Next-gen peripherals from Razer, Redragon, TITAN, Turtle Beach, and more

AR and cloud-gaming demos — including the Viture One and Rokid glasses — offer visitors a glimpse into the future of immersive entertainment.

Cosplay, Anime & Creative Showcases

Over 60 creators will fill Artist Alley, offering everything from custom art to trinkets and tattoo designs. The Anime After Hours stage promises J-pop, K-pop, quizzes, karaoke, and fan-driven performances — while cosplayers can join competitions for both beginners and seasoned veterans.

Esports Finals to Draw Large Crowds

Several major tournaments will culminate at rAge 2025, including:

  • Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Finals powered by Monster
  • Varsity Esports championships across EAFC25, Rocket League, and Valorant
  • Mamelodi Sundowns FC26 Championship with a R200,000 prize pool
  • Kasi Flare 2025 showcasing township gaming talent
  • League of Legends Summoner Tournament with a R100,000 prize

School and student leagues will also be represented, highlighting South Africa’s growing youth esports ecosystem.

Massive Show Specials & Tech Deals

Retail partners are rolling out aggressive expo-only discounts — from PC hardware and gaming gear to collectibles and merchandise. VanguardPC x Takealot will offer deals of up to 40% off, while BT Games is preparing what it describes as its biggest expo presence to date.
