Car thieves to appear at Orlando court

Two male suspects aged between 24 and 22 will appear at Orlando Magistrate Court soon, after police recently found them with a stolen car along Mcude Link at Dube in Soweto.

Orlando East police station spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwane said police were patrolling when they noticed a silver corsage parked at the pavement.

“When police arrived, the driver looked suspicious and there were plus or minus ten males, standing next to the vehicle. Police asked driver’s permission to search the car. While searching, they noticed that the vehicle’s chassis sitting on the floor of the passenger side have been rejoined. Chas tag has also been removed and replaced. Engine number is grinded off and re-stamped. Engine sticker on the left side of the engine has a different engine number from the engine. Police circulated the engine on the sticker and it showed positive as stolen and linked with Randburg case number”, said Hangwane.
