City of Tshwane applauds the Salvokop Youth

Closing off the youth month, Councillor Randall Williams acknowledges the partnership with a group of young people that demonstrate their potential and ability to lead social relief initiatives that benefit their communities.

Salvokop Youth Desk Forum is a non-partisan group made up of youth from the Salvokop community. The youth volunteers their time to help uplift their community.

The group identify challenges in their communities and find solutions for those challenges along with Williams’s office. “Working with the group and other stakeholders we were able to collect over 700 bags of waste while cleaning up the streets of Salvokop”, Williams says.

He added that they also planted 120 Spekboom in Koch Street to commemorate the World Environment Day that was on the 5th of June. The group also deal with social relief programmes and assist where they possibly can.

“With the partnership of Department of Community and Social Development Services, the city was able to reach over 500 households in Salvokop with support packs that included a grocery Hamper, maize meal and a blanket,” he says.

it did not end there, the city was again able to donate 95 blankets and support packs to four pre-schools and a Primary school in the same community.

Williams lastly said, “I am very pleased with the successes of our partnership with the Salvokop young people and I hope to see more partnerships of this nature with youth taking lead to uplift their communities.”
