Members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) drug Enforcement Unit,
arrested two male suspects found in their workshop with an elephant tusk , dagga , rhino horn and a
piece of elephant skin .
Acting upon information from a credible crime fighting cluster about a drug dealer masquerading as
a carpenter, the building on filbert road in Primrose area was raided on Saturday last week.
The DEU squad hoping to find drugs on the premises, got more than they bargained for, after 800
grams of dagga to the street value of R2000, a rhino horn, A4 size elephant skin and the elephant
tusk in halves were discovered.
The 24 and 53 year old suspects are facing charges of possession of dagga and possession of wild
animal’s body parts without permits, were detained at the Primrose police station. They are
expected to appear at the Germiston Magistrates Court
