Drink spiking, a new way to rob people

Drink spiking is the new way used to rob men of their belongings. Police arrested two women on Monday for allegedly spiking their victims’ drink and robbing them in Mamelodi, Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the two women aged 25 and 31 are suspected of stealing a Mazda 3 and a Cellphone. “The victims met the suspects in Sunnyside before they went to a club where they were drugged. Police found the alleged victims unconscious at a cemetery in Mamelodi three months ago.”

Capt. Mavimbela said police had recovered the victim’s cell phones and seized tablets and a substance which are believed to be used for “induced deep sleep” on the victims.

The two women are expected to soon appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on possession of illegal drugs and theft charges. Meanwhile a similar incident took place in Limpopo, were the magistrates’ drink was spiked at the club he was in and his car and cellphone were stolen.
