Fatal shooting incident affect service delivery

The Divisional Head for Waste Management Services in the City of Ekurhuleni, Mandisa Phosa has confirmed that a fatal shooting incident has claimed a life of one of the city’s workers on Tuesday morning in Springs.

“One of the city’s male officials was shot dead by unknown people at the entrance gate, while on duty,” said Phosa.

The incident has affected waste removal services in the Springs and Kwa-Thema areas.

She said the city has arranged psychological therapy for the workers to cope with the situation.

The City of Ekurhuleni is working with law enforcements to investigate this case. “We are working with law enforcements agencies to investigate this criminal act and we hope to speedily bring perpetrators of this atrocious crime to book,” said Phosa.

Phosa has pleaded with the residents of Springs, Kwa-Thema and surrounding areas to take out their 240L wheelie bins on Wednesday morning by 7:00, as the collection rounds of Tuesday will be carried out on Wednesday morning.
