Five Soweto finalist selected to be part of SPAR race challenge

Five finalists from Soweto have been selected to be part of  the Joburg leg of SPAR Women’s challenge Race.

Women in all types of sizes are invited to participate in this exciting challenge.

The Race challenge is a platform that allows South Africa’s most outstanding women runners to score points across six Spar women’s challenge 10km races.

Chwaiyita Gugwini is one of the five Soweto finalists that have been chosen to be part of the SPAR Women’s challenge. Gugwini was not crowned the face of SPAR Face of the Race 2019, but she adds that she’s grateful to be part of this exciting opportunity.

“Although I did not win I am still proud of myself, I still feel like a winner. I entered the competition because I wanted to show women that you can challenge yourself, you can start over, I wanted to be an inspiration because I have asthma and technically I cannot run, but I started small, and took everything slowly until I got to where I am,” Gugwini said.

The Joburg leg of SPAR Women’s challenge Race is set to take place on October 6 at Mark’s Park Sports Club and it is open to all women who would like to participate in the 5km and 10km race.
