Gauteng reaches another milestone of 4.5 million vaccines administered

The Gauteng Provincial Government has noted another milestone of having 4 520 419 administered vaccines.Of that figure 2 074 635 people are fully vaccinated which means they have taken both doses of Pfizer vaccine or a single dose of J&J.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura said that this milestone came at the time when the province is yet to take part in the national Vooma Weekend as from the 1st-3rd October, which will intensify efforts to get as many people as possible vaccinated to beat the anticipated forth wave later at the end of this year.

Makhura said, “The province continues to ramp-up the vaccination programme through ongoing partnership with private sector, media, civil organisations and faith-based organisations.”

He added that additional vaccination sites including POP-UP vaccination site and those operating over the weekend are being opened to accommodate those who are unable to get vaccinated during the week.

He strongly noted that vaccination has been proven to be effective in minimising severe illness, hospitalisation and death in the event one contracts the coronavirus.

Makhura called all 18 years and above to go and vaccinate. “All persons who are 18 years and older are invited to visit their nearest vaccination site to get vaccinated,” he added.
