Health department record 160 more deaths of Covid-19

The Department of Health confirmed 160 more deaths of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the death toll to 17, 408. 

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 686,891.

As of Thursday, the department said 1,736 new infections were picked up. It pushed the number of known cases in the country since the start of the outbreak to almost 687, 891.On the recovery front, 618, 771 people have so far recuperated, with the recovery rate holding steady at 90%.

The department said 105 people died in KwaZulu-Natal, 13 in Gauteng, six in Limpopo, four in Mpumalanga, eight in the Western Cape and 18 in the Eastern Cape.

Recoveries now stand at 618,771 which translates to a recovery rate of 90 percent.
