IKO empowers mother and daughters

Innovating Kasi Organisation recently hosted the second session of the Mother and Daughter Bond event at the Diepkloof Multi-Purpose Hall. The purpose of the event was to create a platform for women to share their stories and break the silence of abuse in their families and society as a whole.

“we managed to host 275 women with their daughters, sisters and in-laws. Our keynote speaker who is the Regional Chairperson of the ANCWL in Johannesburg Ndivhuwo Sekoba shared insights on breaking of the silence about abuse in our households and what steps Innovating Kasi Organisation should take to make sure that this programme is recognised by the gender-based violence committee in parliament since the Mother and Daughter Bond is showing a different element of abuse in our households. ” said Nowel Mdingi, a member of IKO.

Charmaine Engelbrecht who is a Sanlam representative gave guests the awareness of how they should and can be able to sustain themselves financially since a lot ofwomen are stuck in abusive relationships because of lack of financial freedom.
