JMPD officer arrested for murder

An off duty JMPD Officer was arrested and charged with murder, on Thursday evening in Cosmo City, Johannesburg.  The off duty officer, who was driving a white Golf, is said to have made a u-turn when he nearly collided with a blue Almera on South Africa Road.

The driver of the blue Almera then chased behind the Golf and words were exchanged between the two drivers. Occupants of the Almera tried to disarm the officer who then shot multiple times at their car eventually hitting the driver.

Gauteng News spoke to Wayne Minnar, spokesperson of JMPD, “We will allow the investigations to take place and allow the South African Police to do their work.  The driver of the blue Almera Nissan was shot dead on the scene but the other occupants from his car were not injured. Currently the officer is arrested and charged with murder.”

The suspect was arrested at Cosmo City Police Station and his court appearance will be further communicated.
