Jozi FM presenter touches souls

During the 35th birthday celebration of Jozi FM radio presenter Refiloe Motsei known as ‘ngwanyana wa letheka le lesesane’, decided to give back to the community in Soweto.

Motsei who hosts an afternoon drive show called ‘afternoon fix’ gave a radio to one of her listeners, after hearing that she is no more able to tune in and listen to her shows as the radio broke.

“I was touched by my fan and decided to surprise her with a radio. We are born from a community, raised by a community so let us help our community. The little efforts done occupy the biggest parts of other people’s hearts. I am doing this to motivate other people to assist those who are struggling in the communities. Let us practice the spirit of ubuntu as we are approaching Christmas”, she said.

Motsei added that when visiting that family last month, she noticed that they needed more than a radio and she should offer them a helping hand.

“I informed my team and we decided to assist them by raising money through my birthday celebration. Tomorrow from noon until 23:00 will be hosting a party at Soweto Meat Lovers in Protea Glen Ext 26. What we get from the party will go to that family in Soweto. Celebrities such as Metro FM host and DJ Lerato Kganyago, Sannah Mchunu who plays as Zodwa on Gomora and soccer legend Doctor Khumalo will be present at the event. Tickets cost R100.00 and are available at Soweto Meat Lovers, Roots in Dube, Music Kitchen in Pimville and at Fabeleux Hair Studio in Orlando East”, said Motsei.

Motsei said she has learned that it is not about her but the listeners. She said usually she celebrates her birthday with family and friends, but this year decided to do something different.

“Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected many lives and the economy of the country. Jobs as well as loved ones were lost. A lot of people are left suffering and it is the best thing to offer a helping hand to those in need”, she added.
