KZN pupils demand smoke breaks during school hours

Roseville high school learners at Umzinto, Kwa-Zulu Natal South coast are demanding for 1-hour smoke break from 8am to 9am.

The provincial education authority are having none of it however, Roseville learners raised their grievances and they embarked on a protest last week and boycotted attending classes.

Provincial education spokesperson said, learners won’t control them and they need to go back to classes and proceed with their lessons. 

The department of education wanted to lead a healthy lifestyle at schools and avoid smoking.

School pupils made a video before expressing their demands to smoke at school, parents were notified about the matter and they refused to meet the demands of the school learners.
