Limpopo Ndlovu Youth Choir receives standing ovation

Minister Nathi Mthethwa of spots, arts and culture congratulates the Ndlovu Youth Choir’s stunning performance on the stage of the television show America’s Got Talent. The group after their exhilarating performance- got four YES’s! From the judges, including a standing ovation from the audience.

The America’s Got Talent show is one of the biggest talent shows in the world and the winning act receives a life-changing prize and global recognition. Their performance of “My African Dream”, conducted by choir director Ralf Schimitt, composed by SA-born Alan Lazar, aired on United States television on Tuesday night. This performance of the choir is but a drop in the ocean of the craft available in South Africa.

The group all the way from Limpopo, blew the audience and judges away. They showed the beauty and diverse nature of South Africa and Africa as a continent, they represented and gave so much hope. Their performance was said to have “transported us to where you are from and it was beautiful and so magical”, said Julianne Hough, one of the judges on the show. Simon Cowell also a judge said “We’ve always been waiting for a choir like this, something we’ve never heard before with your energy bouncing off me right here”.

The four affirmative responses from the judges paved a way for the choir to the next round! And we wish them every strength towards a success

The minister would like to thank the choir at the same time encourage all Africans in particular South Africans to rally behind the choir, support them when the need arise by voting, texting and publicising the African child.
