Lusufi distraught after Soweto schoolgirl raped and murdered

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the brutal murder of a 14-year-old Grade 9 pupil is a barbaric act. The learner from Aurora Girls High’s body was found brutally ron Friday near a bush in eMndeni Extension,Soweto.

“How do people sleep after committing such a barbaric, and cruel act. Indeed, this is saddening beyond comprehension, Said MEC Lusufi.

It is alleged that the learner went to a local shop in Dobsonville on Thursday. On her way back to home she realised that she had forgotten some items. When she went back to the shop she never returned to her home. Her family went to look for her and reported her missing at the local police station.

The devastated Lusufi has send his condolences to the family of the learner.

“We would like to send our sincere condolences to the family and the school community. We are shattered and really feel their pain during this time of grief” said MEC Lesufi.

MEC Lesufi said the department of education has dispatched its psycho social team to visit the family.

“Our psycho social team will visit the family for necessary support.” Said MEC Lusufi.
