The police officer who claims EFF’s Julius Malema and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi assaulted him at Winnie-Madikizela Mandela’s funeral, has been accused of targeting the politicians.
Johannes Venter faced his second day of cross-examination by Malema’s lawyer in the Randburg magistrate’s court. The pair are standing trial for allegedly assaulting Venter.
Venter denies targeting Malema and Ndlozi at the funeral. But Malema argues that he didn’t scrutinise other guests at the funeral. Venter is a member of Solidarity and assisted by minority rights group AfriForum.
Malema says this is why he stopped the EFF leaders from entering the graveyard.
The assault trial of Julius Malema, Leader of the EFF, and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Spokesperson of the EFF, has been postponed to 9, 10 and 11 March 2021. Johannes Venter, the SAPS Colonel that was allegedly assaulted, testified during the court proceedings on 28 and 29 October 2020.
