Mashaba set to face no-confidence motion this week

Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba will face a motion of no-confidence vote this week.

The motion, brought by the ANC, will go ahead on 22 August, exactly three years after Mashaba was elected mayor.

The Democratic Alliance will need the Economic Freedom Fighter’s help in council if Mashaba is to retain his mayoral position Mashaba’s work as the mayor has been evident in media reports, and seen social media users giving him praise on the work that he do for the City of Johannesburg.

On Saturday, Mashaba welcomed 450 cleaners to be insourced by the city. Economic Freedom Fighter Deputy President Floyd Shivambu took to twitter to congratulate him.

In July, EFF leader Julius Malema announced his party would no longer co-operate with either the DA or the ANC in municipalities across the country.

Mashaba says only those who voted him in can remove him from his post.
