Minister Bheki Cele the hero of the township

Minister of PoliceBhekiCelesaves the day as he assists Juliet Khubeka,18 years old and a former learner from MaforiMphahlele High School to pursue her Degree in Chemical engineering and Chemistry at Wits University. Minister Celewas welcomed by the school and the community of Molapo, as they were gratified to see the young girl who achieved 3 distinctions in Science, Mathematics and Life Orientation for matric class of 2018. The school principal XolaniMaisela and the teachers expressed excitement of the learner’s exceptional performance and for putting the Secondary school on the map.

“We are very proud of Juliet and very thankful to the minister for assisting our learner. Last year the Minister’s department had a programme to take a girl child to work and Juliet was of the selected few learners. Fortunately, the minister had to attend parliament in Cape Town and Juliet also went along with Cele as she also had opportunity to read her speech in parliament”, saidMaisela. MaforiMphahlele High school is well known to produce excellent matric results. In 2017 the school produced 93% pass rate and 243 matriculates, and in 2018 they made 84% pass rate and 168 matric learners passed last year.  The young achiever who was born and raised in Soweto Phiri,broke new grounds and she set the bar high for herpeers in school and the community at large. “I am very happy to have achieved 3 distinctions and would like to show my people that anything is possible as long you put your mind to it” said Juliet. She will be doing extra classes with grade 12 leaners for science and maths every Saturday. PinkyKhubeka Juliet’s mother,expressed her thoughts as she is a very proud mother “We are very blessed to have Juliet and I have always been a proud mother. She has always been a good child as she is also tutoring young kids in the community and currently she has completed writing her two books which are waiting to be published”. School teachers expressed joy as Gauteng news spoke to a former class teacher of the golden learner, “Juliet has always been a god fearing child and she always challenged anything that she didn’t understand”, said Mrs Tau.
