The Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has been deployed to lead the Tshwane district to fight the battle against Corona virus. This comes after the Tshwane Metro was identified as one of the COVID-19 hostpot areas. The Head Administrator of the district Mpho Nawa, has welcomed the deployment of the Public Enterprises Minister Gordhan on Monday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa, recently announced that the fight against the Corona virus will be district-based and would focus on hotspot areas. Tshwane has developed and implemented a Ward-based COVID-19 outreach screening and testing campaign which is targeted at hostpot areas.
Thus far thousands of people have been screened and tested for COVID-19. This was in a concerted bid to isolate those that are positive from the negative ones with a view to flattening the curve.
Nawa told Gauteng News Gordhan’s deployment would also assist where there are weaknesses.
“We will draw inspiration, lessons and mentorship in terms of good governance and financial prudence from his wealth of experience as a dedicated and committed civil servant,” said Nawa.
He said that by following precautionary measure which are in place can flatten the curve of the spread of the Covid-19.
“We can defeat this killer virus if we behave accordingly. Let’s continue to wear face cloth masks, sanitise, wash our hands with soap and water and observe physical distancing of one meter and above to contain the spread of the virus.” Nawa said.
