Most wanted suspect shot dead in Diepsloot

One of Johannesburg’s most wanted suspect was shot dead by the Gauteng Traffic Police in Diepsloot on Friday evening. Meanwhile unlicensed firearms, live ammunition and suspected hijacked motor vehicle was seized. This comes after members of Tshwane, Ekurhuleni Rapid Transit and Gauteng Traffic Police followed an intelligent driven information which led them to the house of the suspect.

Captain Kay Makhubele told Gauteng newspaper that police proceeded to the address where the suspect was hiding in Riverside View. 

“Upon arrival, it is alleged they knocked on the door and the suspect’s girlfriend opened the door. Police tactically positioned themselves around the house. When the suspect realised that it was the police, he allegedly fired one shot, the police returned fire and fatally wounded the suspect,” said Makhubele.

Makhubele said the suspect was wanted on cases ranging from armed robbery, business robbery, CIT and carjacking’s.

“They found a bag with nine pistols and two rifles and magazines with live ammunition. A white Mercedes Benz AMG suspected to be hijacked was also found in the yard.” said Makhubele.

Meanwhile in another multi-disciplinary operation in Johannesburg CBD police seized counterfeit goods of shoes and clothes worth R38-million.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the work done by the Gauteng police. Healso urged members of the community to continue to work with the police.
