NYDA grant recipients making moves

One of the National Youth Development Agency grant recipients, Ndivho Maginya (23), who is the founder of Phanda Studios in Johannesburg, started his journey with NYDA in 2018 at the Nasrec Opportunity Expo where the agency was one of the stakeholders.

Young budding entrepreneurs were granted a platform to pitch their business ideas for funding opportunities. Ndivho was given an opportunity to apply for the NYDA grant funding. After successfully completing all application processes, he was assisted with the Grant Funding of R48 391, 00 through the Johannesburg branch.

The NYDA also provided additional Mentorship support to the young entrepreneur to ensure the success of his business. Phanda Studios currently employ five young people on a full-time basis, and Nidvho intends to establish branches in all nine provinces to create more employment opportunities for youth.

His company, Phanda Studio, provides Video Production, Graphic Design and Photography services to prospective clients. He won the Africa Idea trophy in 2017 and was part of the Future Leaders League held in 2017, in London.

Ndivho expressed his deepest gratitude to NYDA for affording him the opportunity to be an entrepreneur. “I am so grateful to the NYDA, the business is doing well now,” said Ndivho.
