One year old Nqobile kidnapped at Day Care

Nqobile Petersen (1) was abducted, in Meadowlands zone 5, by a woman who called the Pro-Kid Day Care center and pretended to be her grandmother who would be fetching her later on in the day.

Young Petersen was wearing a blue and white striped T-shirt along with blue jeans when the unidentified woman came to the day care centre and kidnapped her. Later that day the principal and grandmother went to Meadowlands Police Station to report the case, but to their amazement, were told to return a few hours later. A few hours of searching for the young girl led the principal to recall a mysterious phone call she had received from a certain woman earlier.

This proved helpful as the police were able to trace the number. Rowena Peterson, Nqobile’s grandmother, added that the suspect must have studied her every move in order to pull off something of this sort.

“The woman who abducted Nqobile denied the allegations but she later on confessed that she had indeed kidnapped my granddaughter”, said Rowena.  Nqobile was subsequently found in Randfontein dressed differently at the suspect’s home.

The Meadowlands Police Station confirmed that the suspect was detained and appeared in court before being released on free bail.

Gauteng News tried to get hold of the Communications Officer at Meadowlands police station but were unable to reach him for comment.
