A man was recently spotted by community members trying tolure a young girl in Devland Gardens, Soweto.
An angry mob became suspicious, attacked and forced a confession out of the man.
He confessed that he was involved in human trafficking and worked with people in Eldorado Park. After this confession police were called to the scene and was handed over to them.
“People staying in places such as Eldorado Park, Naturena, Orlando, Pimville, Kliptown and Chiawelo must be careful as the suspect lives at Gardens in Devland. They must always be careful about where their children are going and playing as the suspect is not working alone. We are conducting investigations on him as he might have been involved in trafficking many girls”, a police statement reads.
On a different case, on Saturday community members assaulted three male suspects in Pimville, Soweto for stealing a LCD plasma TV, Huawei P40 cellphone and expensive shoes. Two died and one survived.
According to an eye witness, the suspects were seen selling those items. Upon questioning they failed to provide proof they owned them. A Huawei owner identified their phone. A whistle was blown and community members gathered. The suspects were severely beaten.
Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene before the third suspect was rushed to hospital. He will be under police guard at the hospital.
