Ramaphosa delivers speech at Naledi Community Hall

President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered a speech at the O.R Tambo annual lecture at the Naledi Community Hallon Sunday. The lecture was part of the African National Congress’ memorial of the watershed Morogoroconsultative conference in 1969, which was used by the party to address its internal crisis such as divisions within the party and low morale of party members. 

The President added that the Morogoro conference and its delegates saved the ANC at the Nasrec conference from party leaders who had been bashing each other for state resources.

He also said that the current leadership is working tirelessly to assist the ANC restore its moral compass. 

“It was the delegates of the 24th conference, the representatives of the branches of the ANC who determined that the ANC was in deep crisis. It was themwho decided that organisational renewal was an absolute and an urgent priority for the survival of our movement,” said President Ramaphosa. 

The leader of the ANC was accompanied by the top leadership of the party including, Secretary General Ace Magashule and Treasure General Paul Mashatile. During the O.R Tambo lecture, Ramaphosa added thatthe Morogoro conference had been the most testing of Oilver Tambo’s character who was the most celebrated leader of ANC and had led the party for 30 years.
