Robbed in broad daylight

The crime rate in Johannesburg central can make it hard for people to walk the streets without being in fear of being robbed. Every week is defined by new reports of crime. Two suspects aged 25 and 26 were recently arrested for armed robbery and being in possession of ammunition at corner Kerk and Mooi Streets.

According to Captain Xoli Mbele of the South African Police Services officers on foot patrol spotted 3 individuals robbing a victim. “The police were busy with their crime prevention duties, around 2pm, when they saw the whole thing unfold. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim while his accomplices searched through his pockets and belongings”, says Mbele.

The victim was robbed of his cellphone, wallet and laptop before the suspects fled the scene. The cops then gave chase immediately and managed to apprehend 2 suspects while the third one slipped away. The victim’s belongings were recovered in the process as well as live ammunition.
