Shock and fear was shared by over a 100 Gauteng News readers after revelations about a learner who tested positive to Covid-19 before schools opening tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the second week since South Africa moved to level three of the Covid-19 lockdown regulations. Alcohol sale and religious gatherings are some of the activities now allowed during level three. The guidelines have been amended to guide both worshippers and boozers to enable them to enjoy their hobbies within the stipulated regulations.
With a mere six days into level three, the Covid-19 infections and deaths are increasing at an alarming rate as Yesterday’s statistics released by the Department of Health reveal. Many boozers undermined social distancing while queuing for hours to stock up on liquor. It has also been reported that hospitals and clinics have seen an increase in alcohol related patients.
A week ago, our reader Job Molatudi indicated that he is ready for level three. We would like to know how he has been doing so far. What his concerns are and suggestions to keep South Africans safe.
When the minister gives the state of readiness report later this afternoon, we hope that it will address parents and leaners’concerns about schools safety.
Let us hope that learners will not perish because of the global pandemic while trying to build a better future. Those before them fought, with some losing their lives while fighting for quality education this month in 1976.
