Simphiwe Dana – Usikhonzile

Soothing vocals accompanied by strings that can put you in a trance and get lost in a place you’ve never been is one way of describing this song. Co-produced by legendary Malian-born musician Salif Keita this album is definitely one to look out for.

Usikhonzile explores God’s love for his children and his patience regarding the prodigal son parable that applies in our lives when being disobedient. Simphiwe certainly has a natural gift that is evident in the way her vocal range switches from time to time and leads to the intended climax.

If your soul needs a bit of food then this piece of work is the right cuisine.
