Stimela drummer Isaac “Bro Mnca” Mtshali has died

Former drummer and co-founder of music group Stimela, Isaac “Bro Mnca” Mtshali collapsed on Sunday afternoon, however he was certified dead after being rushed to the hospital.

Mtshali was part of the legendary Stimela band that went on world tour with Paul Simon during Graceland, however. Mtshali’s death follows the passing of the group leader Ray Phiri who passed on in 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

The Mtshali family asked to be given space and a short statement was put on the group’s Facebook page.

“It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing on of our beloved Issac Mnca Mtshali. Further details will follow.”

Community members from KaNyamazane, Kwa-Zulu Natal paid their respects as they were taken back by the passing of Isaac and social media was on a buzz on Sunday when the death of the legendary drummer was announce. Further details for the funeral will be communicated further by the Mtshali family.
