Zuma medical parole appeal to be heard in August

The Supreme Court of appeal (SCA) will hear former president Jacob Zuma’s appeal against the revoking of his medical parole decision in August.

Zuma and the Department of Correctional Services have until next week Wednesday to file papers in the SCA to challenge the High Court judgement.

The High Court declared Zuma’s release on medical parole last year unlawful and irrational.

Zuma was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment by the Constitutional Court for contempt of court after he breached its earlier order to abide by the State Capture Commission’s summons to appear before it.

He had only served three months of his 15-months prison sentence by the time he was released.

Zuma’s imprisonment led to widespread public violence and looting in KZN and Gauteng.

The matter will be heard on 15 August.
