TMPD condemns manufacturing of masks using its badge

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has condemned illegal manufacturing and selling of face masks that have been branded with their logo.

This comes after Tshwane Metro Police officers were alerted to people manufacturing masks that have been branded with the TMPD logo.

The TMPD noted that there was a demand for face masks to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. However, the department did not authorise the use of its logo to produce face masks. TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba urged the public to refrain from buying these illegal masks.

“We therefore urge members of the public to refrain from using the TMPD name and logo. This is unlawful,” said Mahamba.

Mahamba issued a stern warning to people who are selling masks using their logo. He told Gauteng News two people had already been busted in Mamelodi for selling face masks with TMPD logo.

“Anyone who is found selling these masks will be arrested and will face the might of the law. Two people have already been busted in Mamelodi during an operation for selling such masks” said Mahamba.
