Total Sports robbed by gunmen

The SAPS along with JMPD and Rapid Response unitarrested a 32-year-old male for being in possession of stolen cell phones, two unlicensed firearms and ammunition On Thursday at corner Bree and Troye Street at 12:00. 

“Five suspects entered a Total Sports shop, in Randburg, on Thursday morning and pretended to be customers. The suspects then pointed their firearms at everyone who was present and took several cell phones that were in the safe. They took different types of cell phones worth R200 000 before fleeing the scene”, explains Captain Xoli Mbele.  

Community members alerted the police who followed the leads that led them to the Johannesburg Central area. One suspect was caught inside a getaway car, a white Toyota Etios, that had false number plates while the remaining four managed to get away.

The case is currently under investigation and Gauteng News will have more on the story as it develops.
