Tshwane Covid-19 active cases drop to below 3000 mark

The City of Tshwane has recorded a significant week-on-week decrease in the number of active Covid-19 cases, which dropped to below 3000.

The Executive Mayor Randall Williams says recent Covid-19 report indicates that active cases have dropped to 2 601 as of Tuesday, 31st of August 2021.

“This is a decrease of over 1 000 cases, in the previous week the number of active cases stood at 3 735,” added Williams.

He also added that new confirmed daily cases continue to steadily decrease as they remain below 500 cases per day.

Williams said, “It is always encouraging to see the weekly trend of declining Covid-19 cases in the Capital City.”

However, Williams cautioned residents to remain vigilant and adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols, such as wearing masks and sanitising regularly.

While at it, he noted that it is also important that all adults from the age of 18 can now be vaccinated. “This applies to South African citizens as well as documented foreign nationals in the country,” Williams adds.

The mayor reminded the residents that the city has 43 public vaccination sites spread across the seven regions of Tshwane.

“All our vaccination sites have competent staff who stand ready to offer professional and high-quality services,” Williams concluded.
