Tshwane launches Line 2B A Re Yeng route to Menlyn

Yesterday the Tshwane Executive Mayor, Randall Williams joined MMC for Roads and Transport, Councillor Dikeledi Selowa as their administration delivered on their commitment to launch the much-anticipated Line 2B A Re Yeng route to Menlyn, which was a key commitment Randall Williams made in his State of the City Address.

Williams says the launch is an incredibly significant development for Tshwane residents as the expansion of the A Re Yeng Bus Rapid Transit system will assist to advance mobility and ensure that we connect our residents with economic opportunities.

“Line 2B is particularly significant as it directly connects Menlyn with the inner City. Menlyn is an important economic zone in Tshwane as it is a hub of retail and commercial businesses,” Williams added.

Furthermore, he says he was pleased to note that A Re Yeng has acquired a range of new features designed to assist passengers with disabilities.

“This is critically important towards enabling accessibility to our public transport network,” says Williams.

He disclosed that the Line 2B launch was also supported by their local taxi associations. He includes that the associations are critical stakeholders working with the city to improve public transport.

“We will continuously strive towards advancing and expanding public transportation facilities in the municipality so that our city is interconnected and accessible to all who live in it,” added Williams.

Concluding he said, “The opening of Line 2B has been in progress for the past four years and I would like to thank MMC Dikeledi Selowa and our Roads and Transport team for delivering on the commitment we made to our residents.”
