Customer wearing traditional attire chased away in Midrand mall

Following a video of customer being told to leave Clicks store in Midrand Boulders Shopping Centre yesterday, Clicks South Africa cleared its name by setting the record straight.

According to a video that went viral, a customer was wearing isiNdebele traditional attire. Then centre manager of Boulders shopping centre told him to leave Clicks store.Clicks SA posted on Twitter that its store manager is the one who protected that customer.

“The Centre manager who was accompanied by Boulders Centre security is the one who told a customer to leave the store. Clicks Store manager intervened and asked the customer to continue shopping. Instead center manager who embarrassed the customer, was told to leave the store by Clicks store manager”, Clicks statement reads.

On a video, the centre manager at the store said what a customer was wearing was inappropriate.

“I do not want a person dressed on traditional attire at this mall. You have got a right of admission that I do not condone, this is my mall. Please leave”, said centre manager.

A customer defended himself by saying this is Africa and people cannot be told what to wear and what not to wear at mall.

Bystanders also defended the customer by saying what he is wearing is appropriate because it is African.
