September 29th marked World Health Day, an international initiative of the World Health Federation (WHF) with co-sponsorship from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
World Health Day aims to promote the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and raising global awareness of cardiovascular disease and its prevention.
It is reported that 80% of premature deaths from heart diseases and stroke could be avoided if bad habits such as smoking and physical inactivity are controlled.
The campaign puts a lot of emphasis on prevention measures and risk factors such as smoking, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, obesity, lack of exercise and stress.
