Pleasing news for the City of Tshwane, the Executive Mayor, Randall Williams confirmed that the city is making progress in fighting against Covid-19 as the active cases drop to below 6000.

“According to the latest report, active cases have dropped to 5 304 as of Tuesday, 10 August 2021,” says Williams. He mentioned that the previous week the city recorded 7 641 active cases but he was happy with the weekly decrease of 2 337 cases.

Williams said that it is encouraging to see the weekly trend of declining Covid-19 active cases and emphasized that residents should not lower their guard. “It is important that we remain cautious and adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols, such as wearing masks, social distancing and sanitising regularly,” he adds.

The City of Tshwane has 38 public vaccination sites that are spread across all seven regions with 434 225 vaccinations administered. Qualifying residents are encouraged to register for vaccination. “We need to push this number even higher to achieve herd immunity,” Williams added.
