E-hailing drivers targeted

The Protea Glen SAPS have launched a man hunt for an unknown number of suspects, that are targeting e-hailing drivers in Soweto.

One driver who spoke to Gauteng News Vusi Maleka said they are aware that they are being targeted and that very scary .

“It is so sad that people are doing this to us, we are trying to make a living we work in fear and we don’t know who will be a target next.

“I am trying to feed my family but now when I leave the house my partner worries that I will be a victim.

“I pray the police catch these guys festive is upon us and we will be scared to go to workseen that it will be busy, we wont know who to trust when we get requests,” said Maleka. 

Police Spokesperson Vincent Mashiteng saidunknown number of suspects were behind this crime.

The suspects request a ride from the service, once the driver arrives at the location they allegedly rob them of their belongings at gunpoint.
