The City of Tshwane in partnership with the Tshwane Economic Development Agency (TEDA) hosted African diplomatic community members to commemorate the 58thanniversary of Africa Day on Tuesday, 25 May 2021.
The event was aimed at forging unity and celebrating African diversity.
The City of Tshwane Mayor Randall Williams used the occasion of Africa Day to promote the Capital City’s business tourism and leisure offerings to our fellow African nations.
“Tshwane is ready to open its doors to the rest of the continent, for safe events, conferences and meetings,” said Williams.
Williams said it is important that as the vaccination rollout continues, they also open various business sectors safely.
“For us one of the key strategic sectors that need immediate attention is tourism, particularly the Meetings Incentives Conferences Events(MICE) industry. Travel and capacity restrictions have had a devastating impact on the MICE industry,” said Williams.
He said the City is following a ‘safety first’ approach to make sure that all their venues and destinations adhere to Covid-19 regulations.
Williams has called on African nations to consider Tshwane as their preferred business and leisure destination.
“We have the resources, the experience and we are excited by the opportunity to continue to work with our fellow African countries to revive our economies together and safely,” added Williams.
