It’s always nice to see new talent exploding on to the music scene and taking the whole industry by storm. The latest individual to do so is a young rapper, Farx, originally from Pongola, KZN but currently based in Gauteng.
Farx released his latest offering titled ‘Get lit or die trying’on Wednesday and as the title suggests the predominant theme, on the EP, is getting high and sippin’ on that lean. South African hip hop has come a long way from being obscured by kwaito and house music to being the dominant genre in the country.
It is sad, however, to witness our artists imitating American culture in everything they do. The production on this project is superb and is a reflection of hard work and effort put into it but Farx’s Americanised accent and slang makes the EP a bit tiring to listen to especially when you’re familiar with the artist’s background.
A good effort nonetheless but some more creative topics and local content would make a big difference.
