Gauteng Department of Health warns the public about purchase order financing scam notice going around with the department’s name.
Department of Health Spokesperson Kwara Kekana said the tender scam going around is requesting service providers to make donations in order to be awarded a tender by Gauteng Department of Health.
“We wish to categorically state that the department does not recommend service providers to the suppliers to whom it has given purchase orders. This would be against the ethical values of the Department and would also be in breach of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). Members of the public are reminded that to be awarded a government tender, service provider must be registered on the Central Database System and have tendered for a particular contract. No one can be given a tender without applying for it”, said Kekana.
Kekana wishes to advise the public, which is requested to pay any money in order to be awarded tenders.
“They should report the perpetrators to law enforcement agencies and Premier’s hotline on 086 001 1000”, said Kekana.
