“Joburg Extra-ordinary Council Meeting Fills Two positions”

During an extra ordinary council meeting that was held on Thursday, 29 July 2021, the city of Joburg council has elected the new Chairperson for Transport Committee Councillor Nontokozo Shezi and the Chairperson for Gender, Youth and People with Disabilities (GEYODI) Committee Councillor Kedibone Lekgetho.

The Speaker of Council, Nonceba Molwele said, “the two councillors were elected unopposed following their nominations which they accepted at the extra ordinary virtual council meeting they were on.” She added that the elections were held in terms of rule 24 of the standing rules and orders of council. While at it, Molwele welcomed new PR Councillors who were sworn-in to replace deceased councillors. “Kgoerano Kekana (ANC), Piet Tsotetsi (DA) and Mandisa Soziwe Mafuna (ANC) were sworn-in,” she added
