Minister Fikile Mbalula visits Gautrain

Minister of transport, Fikile Mbalula, paid a visit to the Gautrain station on Friday as part of the City of Tshwane’s Celebration of White Cane Day. This initiative was part of an extended trip to encourage the use of different modes of public transport. This was reported as the minister’s first ever trip on a Gautrain.

Mbalula’s visit to the Tshwane Gautrain station was commended by Gauteng MEC of Public Transport and Road MEC Jacob Mamabolo who expressed his delight in Mbalula experiencing first hand the ‘world class system’. The government is said to have investments in infrastructure, according to Minister Mbalula, and it needs to be accessible, affordable and efficient.

“With Gautrain’s 98.5% punctuality and 99.75% availability rates Minister Mbalula, we are ready to integrate with the rest of the public transport systems in the province. Already we are integrating with the Bus rapid Transport systems in the City of Tshwane and the City of Johannesburg as well as with Metrorail at various of the Gautrain stations”, said MEC Mamabolo.

“I am also glad that the Minister could experience the Gautrain’s accessibility to people living with disabilities”, continued MEC Mamabolo.
