Muvhango still continues to air on SABC 2

Following recent media reports which went viral about South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) banning Muvhango on their screens, the public broadcaster’s spokesperson told a different story.

According to SABC acting spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo, the soapie is not coming to an end. She said instead SABC has signed another contract with Muvhango for the new season.

“SABC denies allegations that Muvhango will be removed from SABC 2 and be replaced by The Queen. SABC programmes are subjected to evaluation based on factors such as viewership ratings, costs and relevance to the market. Muvhango is still ongoing and audiences can look forward to continuing watching it on SABC 2”, she said.

Word of Mouth Pictures new CEO Mandla KaNozulu has also not confirmed about the cancelling of Muvhango on the channel.

Allegations said the longtime soapie was to be replaced on SABC 2 due to not reaching viewership ratings target.
