A 33-year-old male was arrested by police for robbery, of a business, and possession of an unlicensed firearm at corner Albertina Sisulu and Joubert Streets on the 6th of November 2019 at 15:00.
It is alleged that three suspects entered a Pep store pretending to be customers. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the security guard while his accomplices took an undisclosed amount of money from the till before fleeing the scene.
“One of the customers, who was inside the shop, followed the suspects until he saw a police vehicle and alerted them of what was happening. One suspect was apprehended and a firearm was recovered. The other two suspects are still at large with the money taken from the store”, said Captain Xoli Mbele.
An investigation is under way and the suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
Johannesburg District Commander Major General Masha commended the officers for their swift arrest and encouraged them to trace the two suspects on the run.
