Deputy Director from Premier’s office Bonakelo Dan Bomvu visited the Central Johannesburg College to address students regarding the peaceful protest held at their Crown Mine Campus from last week Thursday.
Bonakelo advised students to write a report from what transpired on August 13 to date.
Gauteng News spoke to one of the conveners of the protest Ntokozo Mohlala. Mohlala said the deputy director promised that the office of the premier will provide solutions.
“Mr. Bomvu addressed the students at CJC and he advised the Premier’s office will act on this matter. He promised the office will act and provide solutions for the current problem we facing.”
Currently the student cafeteria has been closed since the protest commenced and Gauteng News was informed students survive on NSFAS food bursary, which they use to purchase food at the school cafeteria.
Ntokozo added that students receives food donations from the community and CJC staff.
“Currently it’s very challenging for us to get food considering the number of students relying on the NSFAS bursary.”

The deputy director said the matter has been taken to national level.
“Today we went to the Central Johannesburg College to hear the complains of the student and provide solutions after the office has investigated the case. The matter has been taken to national level and we plan to have a meeting with the CJC directors in regards to this matter. Currently we waiting for reports from the students and by today we will have full information and reports from students” said Bomvu. Spokesperson of the Langaate Police Station Captain Billy informed Gauteng News, the case is currently under investigation and should anyone have information in regards to the theft that took place at CJC should come forward.
