On Sunday, 12 January a horrific accident took place on the N1 highway between Petroport South and Wallmansthal in Pretoria claiming 6 lives. The victims were members of the Ramulifho family which consisted of 4 children and both parents who were travelling in a light vehicle when it collided with a truck. The funeral was heldon Saturday, 18 January and was attended by various prominent figures.

The extended Ramulifho Family issued a statement of gratitude where they expressed their deepest gratitude tothe people of Vhembe District Municipality and the Glenridge Community in Soweto, Gauteng who reached out to the family during their time of grief.
“We’d like to thank all the different media houses (Radio, TV, Print and Social media) whom upon hearing about this tragedy, reported the matter in a responsible manner. You extended our reach and our cry fell into ears our voices would have never reached”, stated family Spokesperson Dimbanyika La Musukume.

The family went on to thank the local Chiefs, Tribal Offices, friends and families who became one with them in their trying times.
“The Ramulifho family also wants to extend its sincere gratitude to the government of the Republic through its different spheres, departments and agencies, Local and Provincial, in Limpopo and Gauteng. You indeed showed that you are a government for the people. We are highly grateful”, Dimbanyika elaborated.

The family’s loss evidently hit them hard as they expressed a need for counselling in order to deal with the current situation.
To commemorate the lives of their late loved ones the family has been advised to establish a Trust Fund in order to advocate what they stood for whilst they were still alive on earth.
