Mandela Is Dead, written by Makhafula Vilakazi. 26 October Soweto Theater

For thought provoking plays that raises pertinent questions, yet the most uncomfortable conversations for South Africans to engage in and go deep with racism Mandela is Dead is a must watch. Written by Matodzi Ramashia popularly known as Makhafula Vilakazi, questions now that Mandela is dead and the minority has made it clear that they do not regard Black people as equals and they would never associate themselves with an African majority rule.

Makhafola challenges his audience to think and reason out oftheir comfort zones and dig deeper in regards to having a non-racism nation and adamantly questions the majority that, how can they continue to forgive an oppressor who has not apologized. Vilakazi closes the performance by questioning the audience that is it now the time to revisit Mandela’ deal with the White minority?
