Woman gets life sentence for raping a mentally challenged man

The relentless efforts of police to ensure that victims of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide get justice continue to bare fruits in Gauteng.

This week, a 55-year-old woman received a life sentence for raping a 21-year-old mentally challenged man at his house in Krugersdorp.

According to the police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello the woman was hired to be a caregiver to the victim.

“She raped the victim and sexually assaulted him while the parents were not home. The matter was reported by a neighbour after the victim told him about his ordeal,” said Sello.

The woman was found guilty by Krugerdorp Regional Court and sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and six year for sexual assault.

In another incident, 30-year-old, Ntshabeleng Graider Komane was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping a 22-year-old woman.

Sello said that “On the evening of 20 August 2021, Komane requested the victim to accompany him to his friend’s house at Etwatwa. On arrival at the place there was no one. Komane forced the victim into the house where he raped her at knife point,”

“He was found guilty and sentenced on 24 November 2021 by Benoni Regional C,” added Sello.
