The festival celebrated Black authors, readers and the African literacy heritage, at Soweto Theatre readers were able to interact and network with their favourite authors on the other hand, children were treated to a reading session and they were thoroughly entertained by Mzwandile Ntombela.
Gauteng News spoke to Palesa coordinator of Abantu Book Festival, “This is a great platform for writers, authors and screen writers to come together and celebrate African literacy heritage. We chose to host in Soweto as we need to encourage more the culture of reading and we need to instil that in our children. We are very happy with the support we have received from the Sowetans and we are very excited to meet unrecognised authors, as this is a platform for them to grow and network with fellow authors.”
